Manager 15: The Poll

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I chose Eddie Howe, have been praising him for about 4 years now but people were just saying "Who is he?" Obviously not going to happen now neither is Ancelotti but maybe Klopp.

His Bilbao team put U****d out of the Champions League. I genuinely think he'd do a good job.the pink palermo wrote:I'm shocked at how the voting is going , I watch a lot of football but I can honestly say if the Marseille Manager delivered pizza to my front door I wouldn't recognise him .

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
My mouse hovered over a few - but I'd like to see Marcelo Bielsa as the next manager - he seems to have done well with limited budgets where ever he has been. Although the new manager will get increased funds, the £25m(reports) is peanuts compared to what the big boys will spend. He who becomes the manager will have to be used to working with a relatively small budget. This man fits the bill.
Of the English managers in contention, there's only Eddie Howe. He would be my close second choice. But I think he would rather stay where he is.
With 26 days before the players return for early training, the heat is most definitely on to find a new manager.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I went with El Loco, before reading the comments, and was pleasantly surprised to see he was the clear favourite.
A few months ago, I said that the Board wouldn't appoint him because he doesn't speak English, but press reports say he's learning
If they get him, it would be a massive coup, and may even help sell a few West Ham shirts in South America to boot. Might pay his own wages, in that sense.
But on the footballing side, I love the fact that he's a great analyst of the game, came up with his own system for attacking football that's been copied by many other successful managers (e.g. Simeone), and basically wears his heart on his sleeve to boot.
As someone who's spent a lot of time around Latin Americans, I would also say that he fits perfectly with the passion of West Ham.
Somehow I don't trust the press talk that he's asked for the job. But would be very happy if we get him. I might even get over our foolhardy sacking of Sam.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Most encouraging thing for me is that the Top 8 in that list with 95% of votes are:
Carlo Ancelotti (free agent)
Rafa Benitez (Napoli)
Marcelo Bielsa (Marseille)
Slaven Bilic (free agent)
Frank de Boer (Ajax)
Unai Emery (Seville)
Eddie Howe (Bournemouth)
Jurgen Klopp (free agent)
Any of those has gotta be a step up, some several steps.
Exciting times...

Turn it in fella.jamesahayward wrote:Btw I don't understand why Bilic has so many votes
I think it's an ex player thing - not many about - it's certainly can't be about his record as a manager
I'm surprised I haven't heard any madmen mention Paolo!
Apart from Moscow, Bilic has a very decent record. Given the incredibly difficult circumstances at Besiktas he did a great job this season.

Just like to add that that is a mighty fine list of potential candidates - we should be thankful we're not looking at McClaren etc etc
5 or 6 belters on there - just don't rush it Daves because of the Europa League - AIM HIGH

Unfortunately, I suspect that it is the least exciting one that will arrive. Surely, the Dave's, with European football on the immediate horizon & demotion not an option, would not have let Sam depart without a replacement to slip in smoothly & quickly?

Benitez and Ancelotti I'd agree, Howe and Klopp are long shots but may still be possible.Claret&Blue,Thru& wrote: But at least 4 aren't available; leaves us with:

If Bilic is the fall back option, that's still a step in the right direction. Sure beats a shortlist of McClaren, Redknapp, Bruce, McCarthy or McLeish though as some doom mongers have suggested...

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Albeit i know we have hardly any chance i would prefer Klopp out of them all so he has my vote.
Shame these polls dont allow you to pick a 1,2, 3.

Voted Bielsa. Wouldn't want to find everyone votes Klopp except a few that vote McClaren and the headlines read Klopp number one choice followed by McClaren.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
I dont understand why so many people want Bilic.
He would represent such a massive gamble with no PL experience.
The real issue with this poll is half of them are unrealistic.

Re: Manager 15: The Poll
Must say I am amazed that Marcelo Bielsa is doing so well.
We all like entertaining football, but without results it's nothing.
Look at the likes of LVG, Poyet and AVB who were heavily criticised, not for their style of play, but for their ability to win games.
LVG's 3-5-2 is also less of a radical change than Bielsa's 3-3-3-1.
I'm not saying it won't work, as it could definitely, but it's a gamble.
I voted for Garry Monk by the way.

Monk and Howe, two guys that are doing well because they know their clubs inside out after spending many years there. Moving to another club would be a disaster.YoungHammer wrote:
