West Ham Utd 3-0 Southampton (31/03/18)
A bit early, I know, but I can't help wondering if the appointment of Hughes is a good thing or a bad thing as far as we're concerned. The kind of guy who could whip a bunch of underachievers into shape?

Re: Southampton Match Thread
West Ham 1 Southampton 46
Our goal will be an own goal by Jeff Kenna
We'll sign him to be our right winger next season in the Championship, playing at Terence McMillan Stadium, still with a running track.
I ****ing hate our ****ing owners.

Re: Southampton Match Thread
I have nicked this from Saintsweb.
Here is his record:
Blackburn: 15th, 6th, 10th, 7th
Man City: 10th, 6th (didn't finish season)
Fulham: 8th
QPR: 17th, 20th (didn’t finish season - club went down despite binning him in November)
Stoke: 9th, 9th, 9th, 13th (three points off 8th)
I think it is an average to decent record taking everything into consideration. I think they will get at least a point.

Ah Jeff Kenna, Ken Monkou, Neil Shipperley....Tbh that is when my love for West Ham, football and the Premiership peaked. In those days you'd be able to recognise and name every single player from every team. In those days I'd even tune into a Ford Monday Night Football featuring Coventry v QPR.rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:West Ham 1 Southampton 46

I really can't see us losing this game, even knowing how bad we are.
So that being said I think it will be West Ham London 0 - 2 Southampton

Re: Southampton Match Thread
If we cant beat a Mark Hughes team then there really is no hope for us. I wonder what saints fans think of this appointment, to hire a guy who got his former team one league position worse than just the team he has joined ?

Re: Southampton Match Thread
Greetings from a Saints fan.
Can I just say that regarding much of the off field nonsense surrounding your ownwers/stadium most Saints fans feel for, and agree with much of the angst expressed. We also have serious suspicions regarding our new majority shareholder. Makes me all nostalgic for the days of gentleman fans and local sewage works owners running football clubs. Our stadium is pretty souless but at least it's a football stadium.
Despite ridding ourselves of the most inept manager (nice chap though) we've had for many a year most down here are not positive about this game. If you lot aren't up for it now you never will be, meanwhile our players still seem to think it's preseason. Austin's probally out having drinkies with Carroll, we have a centre half who doesn't like heading the ball and our "flair" player has the brain of a hamster. Sparky's arrival is about 3 months too late and probally the wrong bloke anyway. Most of all player investment has been a joke (sound familiar ) with any other half decent players making it clear they're off soon.
So good luck (after this game) and I hope we're not playing each other in the Champ' again next season.
Steve.

Re: Southampton Match Thread
This could be anything but they will do the right thing which is to sit back and wait for the fans to get restless, I predict another 3-0, the players are going to be ****ting themselves.
Re: Southampton Match Thread
Bad news is Saints sacked their manager before our fixture with them.
Good news is theyve appointed Hughes...

More a question of whether Moyes can whip our squad of under achievers into shape after the jolly up in Miami.Vic_Watson wrote:A bit early, I know, but I can't help wondering if the appointment of Hughes is a good thing or a bad thing as far as we're concerned. I just hope Moyes has the sense to actually start with a striker for this one, otherwise we are doomed.
