Little things in life that make you smile

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

That Premier Inn advert that features two highly unsuccessful salesmen "enjoying" their one-star stay at one of their downmarket hotels. They arrive at the flagship Nantwich branch in their repmobile (a Mondeo, naturally),SHARE a room, then stare in disbelief at the all-you-can-eat breakfast. The fact that the ad elects to highlight the fact that the bathrooms have mirrors is quite telling. Surprised they didn't feel the need to mention the toilet rolls in the karsi, that the beds come fully equipped with pillows and made a point of telling how many different grumble channels there are on the TV.

Is it wrong that I actually smiled at this?

No. Somewhere else.

TBH, everywhere I've worked has had a table football in the kitchen (always bloody red vs blue, too), but this is the first one with a proper pool table.

You do get huge piles of microwaved eggs, by the look of that advert.

Seriously, look at those two c*nts. The absolute highlight of their day, probably their week, is getting to brush their teeth using a mirror, and leaving with a cup of hotel coffee.

Presumably, bathroom mirrors are a rarity where they live. By the looks of them, I'd guess they both live on the outskirts of Stoke, possibly Telford.

Yes, that was a bit sneery & childish. I retract that Stoke/Telford bit.

Still, that ad aims so desperately low it might as well have just been 30 seconds of text saying "Premier Inn - at least it's not a Travelodge! Or Toby Carvery Motel".

Lucky sod.

I did a visit to Meraki HQ last year, their support staff had ping pong, table football, can't remember if there was a pool table, but there were guys moving around the office on skateboards and one was dribbling a football across the whilst on the phone to a customer

It's a world away from where I work.

TBH, most of the time, that kind of environment makes my teeth itch. But, frankly, even I'm willing to deal with a bit of modern office culture if it means I can have a few frames over lunch.

I wonder if they do an all-you-can-drink breakfast there.

There's one in the middle Salisbury, stayed there after missing the last train. Wasn't bad, they don't mind if you piss the bed or puke in the wardrobe.
