We'll always have injury issues with any players we sign until they sort our training / medical facilities out, which will never happen.

Sullivan can't see any immediate "return" on his money, so he ain't going to chuck any money into the pot.Ozza wrote:We'll always have injury issues with any players we sign until they sort our training / medical facilities out, which will never happen.

Same as the Academy......
toss pots.......
two clubs (ours being one) after a particular player - player is still undecided....Club A: "Here let's show you around the facilities that you will be coming to day to day....." West Ham: "Here's a lot more dosh to entice you to play for us."
We probably end up paying more than what a decent facility would cost in extra wages because that's the only way we can "break a tie" so to speak.
But it isn't "directly" paid out so Sully doesn't see it.....

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
That's exactly right, heard a jorno on Talk Sport a year or so ago say, "West Ham are in for top players, but once they show them around Rush Green the only reason the player would sign is the money West Ham throw at them"

Since he's been mentioned here, Loftus-Cheek have scored two so far in tonights game.
He is obviously not for sale anyway, however I don't know if the prices mentioned are a joke or not. A 22 year old english international from a club that does not have to sell anyone would cost £50-60m in todays marked, easily

Not sure if Ryan Fraser is the type of footballer that would interest Pellegrini but I like his attitude , works hard , speedy [ something we lack ] and can get past his man [ again , something we lack ] .
I think also that Jonjo Shelvey could be our natural successor for Mark Noble - only 26 still .

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
we still need players but cant see much coming in in January.A couple of loans maybe such as Mario and phil foden ?
for those that have missed them here are some lists !
for 2019 outs
Hernandez 10-15m
byram 2m
hughill 5m
carroll out of contract
cresswell 10m
Antonio 10m
2019 Ins
GK if Adrian decides he has had enough as a number 2.
LB -
CB- Lascelles 15m
CDM-
CF-
I have no idea who we will go for but would ask that they are younger players and no over 30`s. talk of dzeko is ridiculous because he is 32 now. He is doing the business now but next season another year older. WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE A FEW MORE ENGLISH PLAYERS BUT THEY ARE OVERPRICED.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Typical of our luck that Yarmo is out for the season....but hopefully it goes to show, that £100m spent in the Summer is just small fry...well done on finally spending that money and its a start, but we need to do this every Summer as our squad still lacks strength and depth.
Potentially, we may need a couple of new faces in January...but we can't be complacent and need to invest on the summer investments and more forward.
Yarmo's injury just goes to show that we need the numbers so you need at least two quality players for each position and maybe a young promising player as your third. Due to our luck with injuries, these young player will get a chance!
The front three of Yarmo, Arnie and Anderson was looking good...who do we have similar? Antonio, Grady, Chic, Carroll, Perez, maybe Arthur? Lanzini and Wilshere, i would say, would be better playing in the middle three, either side of Rice, with Noble, Snooders and Obaing in contention, depending on the game?
Antonio, for me, has lost it...too heavy for a modern footballer... Carroll's days are numbered...can not be relied on and takes up a squad position. Chic seems to be injured or "unwell" too often. Perez doesnt seem to be good enough....Grady is learning, so should be the "promising third choice"...so Arthur is the only choice?
So in theory, if we are moving on Antonio, Carroll, Chic, we need Perez to get better or move on and Arthur to play more up front...so that means we need at least two high quality front players (not including Yarmo) and two younger ones, so we have 6 players for the 3 positions...
The two quality players have to be in the region of £35-40m.....maybe Immobile of Lazio or Simeone of Fiorentina or a winger/forward?...plus two younger prospects....i like Solanke of Liverpool, but not sure he would like to swap the subs bench there for ours....Brewster is another quality youngster, but again, its trying to tempt him over...or even a loan for Hudson-Odoi or buy Issy Brown, Danny Loader (Reading) or Tulloch of WBA or a long shot of Greenwood of Manure. Sancho had the bulls to leave Man City and money talks...
If we are serious, then we need to be buying quality proven players and look at the kids...or do we just congratulate ourselves for spending £100m and sit back for 4 years, doing nothing...?

Yes, a shame...but that's the type of player we could do with...before they sign new huge contracts...

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
phil foden needs game time, maybe pep will let us have him on loan ?
jao Mario to return on loan or for 15m. no playing time at inter means his price has dropped.
a DM is needed to provide cover to rice noble obiang. we only have those 3 for the 3 places ! snoddy is not a central midfielder although you cant fault his workrate !
another CB to provide cover for diop Balbuena and ogbonna. forget reid as he will break down soon after he returns no doubt. maybe cahill ? Lascelles ?
striker is where we are also short - gayle from Newcastle ?

Double that at a minimum. What would you sell Rice for?

If you said Newcastle have offered £5million plus Lascelles for Cresswell & Antonio I'd bite their hands off.

hammermann
you mean Dwight Gayle who is currently on loan at West Brom ?
15M for Lascelles ?
This belongs in the "Players who have no chance of coming here for the price" thread or "Let's just chuck names out there who won't be playing here" thread...

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Now we have established a playing style, we need additions who will compliment that style and in turn, improve the team. In order to achieve this, we then need to assess the positions that need strengthening, assess the areas where we are light and those that need additional cover and not just recruit on cost and then pass it all over to Pellers to make of it what he can. If Adrian leaves at the end of January, we will need cover for Fabianski, Pellers will need to decide, if Zabs, or Fredericks, is his first choice RB; we need another CB, definitely a proper LB, mercy, a DM, a ball winner in midfield and an energetic, box to box midfielder, preferably, one who is also a dead ball specialist too. This should do the trick for this window, so now let the scouts start scouting. That's their job, that's what their paid for, isn't it ?

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
maybe for the summer Puff...
We have 3 CB's don't forget Oggie is on the bench and Reid should be back. Reid earns good wedge and he can fill in for a 4th slot. Save the money.
Think we'll keep Adrian until the summer, again no need for a January purchase. Let him see his contract out here. Save the money.
2 LB's here already. No real need in January. Save the money.
We have 2 RB's - Zaba is playing lights out, Fredericks is an able sub. Save the money.
That's Sully's thinking and at this stage I can't say I would blame him. No real good deals to be had in January and I think we should re-tool in the summer, Carroll, Adrian, maybe Obiang, Oggie, Reid.
Now if we can release Carroll and Adrian, find someone stupid enough to take Reid (I don't think we'll get shot at his age, his injury problems) but we could let him go for free and that might make it easier to get shot - "buying" club pays singing on fee that would compensate for his drop in wages...Find a buyer for Hernandez half price, again they would "save" a good bit of dosh of fee and therefore could negotiate decent wages.
Oggie isn't in Pellers plans, Obiang wants out if we believe the papers and we could get 7M for him from Italy.
then it comes down to Antonio - if there's a market get rid.
we could free massive wages, and recoup some transfer money I honestly reckon about 30M total.
Reid maybe 5M, Hernandez, 5-10M, Oggie 10M, Obiang 10M and that would leave any Antonio money as a huge bonus.
Don't forget there 10M also tied up in Hugill on loan if we could get 8-10M added to the Antonio we talking somewhere realistically of 40-50M easy. The hard part is finding buyers. And if we could get another 5M for Byram it's all free money for players who are not even contributing.
Carroll and Adrian just frees up wages.
Sully wouldn't have to put his hand in his pocket and I think we could seriously add several players who fit our style and age bracket (we HAVE to get younger) and strengthen the team considerably without even dipping into Sully's pocket. IF he could then come up with 40M that's another total 100M thereabouts.
