I went for only one egg with the rib eye and chips, but threw in a portion of fried mushroom
added a course of cheese and biscuits and a very large glass of Masi Campofiorin

Re: the dinner thread
Mrs CRS went full on retro '70s menu last night - prawn cocktail starter, steak and chips with field mushrooms and tomatoes, pudding just had to be Black Forest Gateaux. The only thing missing was a bottle of Black Tower to wash it down! Had a bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon called Anakena, bloody lovely it was, the wine and the meal.

Thats banging CRS
my childhood in 3 courses , bet the steak was burnt to a crisp and like shoe leather
and it would not be right unless the Gateaux was thawed apart from the inner 1/2 inch which was always still frozen

Sounds lovely. I haven't had short rib in a long long time, you've given me an idea.DasNutNock wrote:
Prepped yesterday, marinated in bbq sauce, spices and bourbon. 4 hours in the casserole at a low temp, sauce reduced, then back in at a higher temp to glaze. They were bloody delicious, easily the nicest beef short ribs I’ve done at home.

Re: the dinner thread
Saturday I bbq'd some chicken breasts and streaky bacon, served them in a toasted bun with avocado, shredded lettuce, red onion, sliced gherkin, mayo and cholula chipotle sauce, side of fries. Outstanding.
Sunday we were full up on all day beach picnic grazing, so just had some leftover chicken from the day before with coleslaw in a harissa flatbread.

Re: the dinner thread
Got up at 4:30am today to put a costco pork shoulder in the oven. Was meant to run the smoker overnight, but lousy weather meant I ended up doing it in a casserole, with a couple cans of cider in with it. No idea if it's going to be particularly nice, but didn't have much of an alternative. To serve with BBQ sauce, brioche buns & coleslaw.

Slow cooked Iberian black pork ribs with salad. A couple of bottles of Caruja IPA and a nice crisp white wine, really looking forward to it.

Seafood risotto, with fresh prawns, fresh squid and fresh scallops.
Honestly, are prawns the best seafood going? Versatile and delicious. I could eat them every day.
