Can you cook the elastic band that holds the chicken's legs together?

Womens cricket - do they wear boxes to protect their lady garden? I know if you accidentally hit them there it hurts a little bit, but nothing like us obviously, as that pain feels like the world is ending.

David Gower was asked this very question, he replied; "Yes, we call them manhole covers".Clacton-ammer wrote:Womens cricket - do they wear boxes to protect their lady garden? because they are not grounded. You would be fine hanging off of one too as long as you do not touch any conductor that is touching the floor.

So if I was to jump & balance with both feet down on a railway 3rd rail, I should be OK for that same reason? Birds often perch on them as well. Not like I'm going to try it though.

Electricity takes the path of least resistance.rigoberts song wrote:why don't birds die when they perch on high voltage wires ?
The wire has very little resistance, probably 0.0001 ohm. You are approximately 10,000 ohms, assuming you are dry. However, if you are close to or in contact with earth, or something else in contact with earth, the electricity will flow through you as electricity will always try to flow to earth where it can, as the mass is so large the charge can dissipate.

We've got a pole on our croft with some transformer attached - one day in the garden I found a seagull's wing cut right off - something must have carried the body away but this whole wing was there cut off at the joint - must have flapped its wings and touched a live bit .
Looked like it'd been lasered off .

Whatever you do, NEVER touch the wire with one leg while touching the ground with the other leg.rigoberts song wrote:why don't birds die when they perch on high voltage wires ?

Yes, you would be ok so long as nothing of you was touching anything else.Dover KUMB fan wrote:So if I was to jump & balance with both feet down on a railway 3rd rail, I should be OK for that same reason? Birds often perch on them as well.
Still extremely not advisable though, as if you're as clumsy as me, you would wobble & put one foot down on the ground, thereby shuffling off this mortal coil.
If the voltage running through something is high enough (wouldn't usually be the case in a third rail), you can be killed by 'arcing', before you've even got near enough to touch the thing.
It's why climbing up electricity pylons is so dangerous.
