Re: Little things in life that make you smile
Good to hear mate, I'm always cheered when I see someone beating cancer-DL- wrote:As I explained top ToMoS, when cancer survival rates are spoken about, it's 5 year survival - so 5 years from end of treatment - and Stage 3 Bladder Cancer does only have a 30% survival rate.
If I'm still here in 2024, that means I've done it
To the other posts - cheers
My missus was Stage 3 breast cancer and next year August (fingers crossed) she'll be in remission. She's had skin cancer since, but they're not secondary to the breast cancer (Basel-Cell Sarcomas) and were cut out fairly routinely. She's on a multitude of tablets which have their own side-effects but hopefully next year, she can put all that behind her.

Again, we’re missing the meaning of “little”. Battering the shackle-draggers’ twitching corpse isn’t a little thing.FreeWheeling wrote:Giving the convicts and absolute ****ing mauling

Re: Little things in life that make you smile
We had a new PM join three weeks ago, seems totally useless and not to understand IT (or much else to be fair). In the first week he insisted that I (as the architect) should produce the project plan for him as "you understand all the tasks and who should do it". This morning he has just commented on the plan, having had it two weeks - "I don't think that your first task is very professional" - The first task in the plan was "Invent and build a time machine"

But would that really be down to the IT department?Hampshire Hammer wrote:The first task in the plan was "Invent and build a time machine"
I mean, it's not like you'd be able to turn the damn thing off and then back on again is it.

In this place everything is down to the IT department it seems and to me a time machine would be hardware with software installed so definitely IT. We don't just turn things off and back on again, sometimes we stand and stare at them.Hummer_I_mean_Hammer wrote: But would that really be down to the IT department?

Re: Little things in life that make you smile
IMO you need to go straight to his boss and ask why he was hired if he doesn't know how to plan and doesn't understand any IT. I've actually worked with loads of excellent IT PMs throughout my career, so the bad ones always stick out like a sore arse. The ones who are always flustered, panicking, give blank looks in meetings, insist that the company you both work for "does all the processes wrong", aggressively insist on you picking up the paperwork & comms because they haven't got a f*cking clue...Hampshire Hammer wrote:We had a new PM join three weeks ago, seems totally useless and not to understand IT (or much else to be fair). A bit like when you hear anyone say the initial letters of SQL, rather than just saying it as "sequel", and you instantly think "how have you got a job in IT?".
