Europa League
FC Lusitanos 0-1 West Ham United

West Ham are through to the second qualifying round of the Europa League after completing a second win over FC Lusitanos within a week.

Elliot Lee's 21st minute striker was the difference between the two teams tonight, even though the hosts had one effort ruled out for offside and saw another cleared off the line in injury tikme at the end of the game.

The Andorran side - who had been soundly thrashed in their past four Europa League appearances - will no doubt be happy with their night's work, having kept the difference down to a single goal; a considerable achievement, given their recent past.

However they faced just ten men for the majority of the game, after Diafra Sakho was dismissed for what remains unknown at this point with just 14 minutes on the clock.

An altercation in the centre circle led to referee Anders Poulsen issuing the Senegal international with a straight red card, leaving the Hammers a man short for the vast majority of the encounter.

In the end Lee's goal - a nicely-taken finish from a Matt Jarvis pass - proved to be enough for the Hammers to secure victory, which was perhaps just as well for it was also West Ham's only shot of the entire game.

Slaven Bilic's side will now face Maltese outfit Birkirkara FC in the next qualifying round, with the first leg to be played at the Boleyn Ground next Thursday evening.
