Former Hammers News editor Kirk Blows teams up with freelance journalist Ben Sharratt to bring you Claret And Blue Blood, a collection of stories featuring the most successful players to emerge from the famous Hammers Academy during the last fifty years.

Boleyn favourites like Trevor Brooking, Bobby Moore and Tony Cottee are heavily featured - alongside some rather less well received characters such as Frank Lampard Jnr and Paul Ince.

The first section of this book - 'Dawn of a New Era' - deals with players who emerged from the Hammers golden age, the late 50's and early 60's. Amongst the much heralded Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst chapters lesser lights such as Tony Scott and Jack Burkett are given equal billing - all accompanied by interviews with the players themselves.

Through Ron Greenwood's era right up until the present day (Jermain Defoe included) all the Hammers greatest players are featured in detail, including interviews and stories you won't have seen anywhere else.

The depth of detail in the book is, at times, astonishing - and makes 'Claret And Blue Blood' a must read for any Hammers fan, young or old.

So if you've never heard of Dave Bickles, Jimmy Lindsay or Dennis Burnett get this book. It's a welcome addition to any Hammers collection.
