Craig Bellamy

Cardiff
Squad Number: 10
Position: Striker
Born: 13th Jul 1979 (Cardiff)
Signed: 7th Jul 2007 (£7,500,000)
Contract: Details unknown
Previous Club: Liverpool

Alan Curbishley signed the feisty Welsh striker in the summer of 2007 from Liverpool for a club record fee of £7.5m.

Bellamy came to East London with something of a notorious track record, having been involved in spats at former clubs Newcastle and Liverpool.

But Curbishley clearly believed that he could tame Bellamy's suspect temperament and had no problems in breaking the club's transfer record in order to land the Welsh international captain.

Newcastle United

2-2: Saturday, 10th January

Superb finish for the goal. Ought to have had a spot-kick too.

Barnsley

3-0: Saturday, 3rd January

His pace was a threat throughout though final balls played both to and by him were often tantalisingly a few feet off target.

Portsmouth

0-0: Saturday, 15th November

The free-kick aside he failed to show what he can do. Badly needs a goal.

Everton

1-3: Saturday, 8th November

Another strong performance that went unrewarded with a goal. His dummy on the left in the first half was a thing of beauty.

1-3: Saturday, 8th November

Another strong performance that went unrewarded with a goal. His dummy on the left in the first half was a thing of beauty.

Middlesbrough

1-1: Saturday, 1st November

Full of running he was chasing defenders down right up to the end of stoppage time.

Bolton Wanderers

1-3: Sunday, 5th October

(replaced Di Michele, 54) Better than the player he replaced – just.

Fulham

2-1: Sunday, 28th September

(replaced Di Michele, 74) Looked a lot livelier than Di Michele had done but his finishing let him down. I look forward to seeing him play 90 minutes in this system.

West Bromwich Albion

2-3: Saturday, 13th September

Did not play.

Blackburn Rovers

4-1: Saturday, 30th August

(replaced Ashton, 69) A welcome return. Buzzed around like an angry wasp before delivering his sting with his prey defenceless. Can only be a good thing.

Blackburn Rovers

4-1: Saturday, 30th August

(replaced Ashton, 69) Possibly the most welcome return of all – he is key to any desire we might have to play football.

Wigan Athletic

1-0: Saturday, 2nd February

(replaced Cole, 68) Good to see him back though he ought to have done better with the chance that came his way.

Middlesbrough

3-0: Saturday, 15th September

Clearly suffering from the combined effects of a groin strain, a midweek international and the joys of new parenthood, the one decent run he made did for him after 25 minutes.

Reading

3-0: Saturday, 1st September

I was initially unsure but this has won me over. Pace in abundance and got what he needed- service. Good finish and a good assist for Etherington’s first.

Reading

3-0: Saturday, 1st September

Lots of running and at the heart of most that was good about our play on the break. Fine goal.

Bristol Rovers

2-1: Tuesday, 28th August

Took his goals - his first for the club - well, and is beginning to look the part.

Wigan Athletic

1-1: Saturday, 25th August

Lots of running and is beginning to show a threat. Some nice link up stuff with Dyer.

Wigan Athletic

1-1: Saturday, 25th August

Frankly, quiet. Full of energy and desire- but is the overall talent there? We desperately need a goalscorer.

Birmingham City

1-0: Saturday, 18th August

Full of running and a constant threat to the home defence. A goal or two is next on the agenda.

Manchester City

0-2: Saturday, 11th August

Some promising runs down the left in the first half but being played out of the position for much of the second he faded from view.

Manchester City

0-2: Saturday, 11th August

Lots of running but often into dead ends with his head down. Is he the answer? Time will tell.
