United are through to the last 16 of the League Cup after leaving it late against Cardiff City.

United got off to the best possible start after less than 20 seconds when Man Of The Match Ravel Morrison burst into the box to fire past Cardiff 'keeper Joe Lewis.

Matt Jarvis doubled the lead on 7 minutes getting enough on the ball to see it trickle past the 'keeper to finish off a slick passing move that, inevitably, involved Morrison once more.

The home side had numerous chances to increase the lead but it was the visitors who scored next, Craig Noone's stunning drive giving Adrian no chance, though ref Roger East missed what appeared to be a foul on Matt Taylor in the build-up.

Cardiff were much livelier in the second period and Peter Odemwinge levelled the scores with just 15 minutes to play.

However, it was the Hammers who went into the draw for the next round, Ricardo Vaz Te nodding home the winner from Collison's cross with just two minutes to go to round off a fine move, giving Sam Allardyce a win in his 100th match in carge.
