Modibo Maiga could be set to leave West Ham United after Carlton Cole secured a new 18-month contract with the club.

Maiga, who has struggled to make an impact at the club since moving to England via Sochaux in July 2012 is on the radar of Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Harry Redknapp, who was also keen on signing Carlton Cole is understood to have turned his attention to the Malian after failing to land the 30-year-old former English international.

Maiga, 26, has scored just three Premier League goals for West Ham during his two year tenure in East London. His most recent goal came in last month's 3-3 draw against West Brom.

West Ham are close to signing a second striker, Monaco Lacina Traore on loan for the rest of the current campaign.
