West Ham legend Billy Bonds is recovering at home after having a recent hip operation.

The 67-year-old, who is considered by many to be club's greatest living legend was unable to attend last night's West Ham Dream Team event at Southend on Sea having recently gone under the knife to cure a troublesome hip.

Despite his absence, Bonds was one of the players named in an all-time best XI by a panel of former Hammers at the event. The panel consisted of Brian Dear, Julian Dicks, Trevor Brooking, Alan Devonshire, Tony Cottee, Alan Curbishley, Tony Gale and Phil Parkes.

Once the world's most expensive goalkeeper, Parkes recently underwent treatment for bowel cancer - treatment that has proved successful, with the 64-year-old having received the all clear.

The full Dream Team XI was as follows: (442) Phil Parkes; Ray Stewart, Alvin Martin, Bobby Moore, Frank Lampard Snr; Martin Peters, Billy Bonds, Trevor Brooking, Alan Devonshire; Geoff Hurst, Frank McAvennie.
