David Sullivan has confirmed that West Ham have pulled out of the race to sign Brentford's Scott Hogan.

West Ham's co-chairman, speaking on Talksport this morning revealed that the Hammers were no longer interested in signing the prolific young striker - because Slaven Bilic had vetoed the deal.

"I cannot speak about specific players because that is tapping up," said Sullivan. "But we have a policy at West Ham where myself, recruitment officer Tony Henry and the manager sit down and discuss things.

"In a perfect world we all agree before we sign anybody and we don't break that rule very often, so you cannot bring in players that the manager doesn't particularly fancy - particularly in January.

"We've got a good manager who gives everybody a chance but if he feels he doesn't want somebody or doesn't feel he's going to add to the team, you cannot bring a player in. You have to support the manager."

Sullivan, who expects to enjoy a quieter transfer window than in recent seasons also hit out at rising prices, a week after paying £10million for Hull City's 29-year-old winger Robert Snodgrass.

"Both the transfer fees and wages have gone potty," he complained. "How can very average players be worth £10million or £12million?" You may listen to the fiull interview with Sullivan below.
