A statement in response to Graeme Souness' comments regarding boardroom interference at West Ham has been published on Jack Sullivan's twitter page.

The teenager was one of several individuals criticised by the Sky Sports pundit, who suggested in the Sunday Times that they had behaved in an "unacceptable" fashion by undermining managers.

However the youngest of chairman David Sullivan's two sons fired back via a missive published on the popular social media network, in which he criticised Souness for using him as an "unfair example".

"I was disappointed to read Graeme Souness' comments about me yesterday," read the post. "I respect his achievements in football but it was unfair of him to use me as an example of managers being undermined by their clubs.

"In the past year or so, I have changed my approach to social media. I haven't tweeted any transfer news or gossip, and always waited until the deal has been announced by the club before commenting.

"I have never criticised a signing apart from Marouane Chamakh - and I was just 13 at the time. I have not criticised the manager's selections or substitutions."

Sullivan ended his reply by inviting Souness to a West Ham Ladies match of his choice, adding that he hoped it might allow the former Middlesbrough and Liverpool star to view him in a different, more positive light.

"I have developed a lot as a person, particularly since taking up my role with the West Ham Ladies," he added. "I would like to invite Graeme Souness to be my personal guest at a game.

"I hope he might change his opinion about me and enjoy a great game of football."
