West Ham are reported to have made an improved offer for Felipe Anderson - just 24 hours after the deal appeared dead in the water.

According to well-placed source Gianluca Di Marzio, and little more than day after the Hammers had refused to meet Lazio's fresh demands, the club have returned with a bid close to EUR40million for the Brazilian star.

Considered to be one of West Ham's primary targets this summer Anderson is said to agreed to the switch which would make him the club's most expensive signing, a matter of days after Issa Diop's ?22million switch from Toulouse broke the previous record*.

Inter had raised their asking price for Anderson to around EUR50million, prompting West Ham to temporarily call a halt to negotiations. However it is thought that Lazio president Claudio Lotito is likely to agree to United's latest offer which comes after several weeks of discussions.

* Marko Arnautovic's transfer from Stoke City in 2017 could eventually cost West Ham ?25million in total with add-ons applied, although the initial fee was ?20.5million. An earlier record fee holder, his record was broken by the Diop signing.
