Andy Carroll is set to miss yet another game after being ruled out of this weekend's meeting with Huddersfield with an "ankle" problem.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's encounter with the Premier League's bottom club revealed that there were no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game but once again expects to be without the services of the former England striker.

"Andy Carroll has a problem with his ankle," said Pellegrini during his Thursday press conference. "With Andy, we need to wait for a medical examination and then after that we will know. The rest of the squad is okay."

Carroll - whose first appearance this season came in December, following five months on the sidelines with another ankle injury - is out of contract with West Ham this season, although the club retains the option of extending that by another two years.

However the chances of that being triggered would appear extremely unlikely at present given Carroll's long history of injuries, which have restricted him to just 14 appearances so far this season.
