Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Samir Nasri was meant to feature in the second half of tonight's game at Chelsea - before sustaining an injury in the warm-up.

The French international had been earmarked by the boss to enter the fray for the second period, with West Ham trailing one goal to nil at the break thanks to Eden Hazard's 24th minute opener.

However Pellegrini confirmed after the game that Nasri sustained an injury during half time, whilst undertaking simple exercises on the pitch.

"Samir felt a problem in his calf whilst he was warming up so he couldn't play," said the Hammers boss.

So instead of Nasri replacing the ineffective Javier Hernandez, Scottish winger Robert Snodgrass was introduced for the final 45 minutes.
