Lucas Perez is on his way back to Spain after West Ham agreed to sell the striker to La Liga side Alaves.

The former Arsenal forward spent just one season at West Ham having joined West Ham in a ?4million switch last summer, during which he scored six goals in 19 appearances.

Yet despite that perfectly reasonable record of one goal in every three appearances (most of which came from the bench), the 30-year-old is set to return to Spain for the first time since enjoying a brief loan spell at Deportivo in 2017.

Perez's sky-high wages - circa ?70,000 per week for a back-up striker - are thought to be largely behind West Ham's decision to accept Alaves' offer of ?2.2million (EUR2.5million), which represents a loss of around ?2million in 12 months.

Perez is expected to fly to Spain shortly in order to agree personal terms and undergo a medical.
