Academy winger Martin Samauelsen has extended his stay at Norwegian club FK Haugesund for the remainder of 2019.

The 22-year-old, who moved from Manchester City to West Ham on a two-year contract in 2015 joined Haugesund in February following the termination of a season-long loan deal with Dutch side VVV Venlo.

The initial plan was for Samuelsen to remain in Norway until the end of June - however the two clubs have now reached an agreement allowing him to stay in Norway until the end of December, when the current league season ends.

"We are of course very happy that this has fallen into place," Haugesund head coach Jostein Grindhaug told the club's website.

"Martin has come in and got a nice place in the group, contributed well and developed very well in the time he has been here.

"We have never hidden away that we want to keep Martin for the rest of our season so this is a good solution for us, for the player himself and for West Ham."

Samuelsen's first four months in the Eliteserien saw the young Hammer feature on 16 occasions in both league and cup, scoring six times (two in the league, four in the cup).

He has previously enjoyed loan spells with Peterborough (twice), Blackburn Rovers, Burton Albion before joining Venlo at the start of the 2019/19 season.
