Morrison, who is still just 26, was on West Ham's books between 2012 and 2015 but made only 24 first team appearances for United during that three-year spell.

His time at West Ham was punctuated by loan spells at Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City before he eventually moved to Italian side Lazio - for whom he made just one start and six substitute appearances.

Further loan spells - a second with QPR and another with Mexican side Atlas ensued - before he signed full time for Swedish club Ostersunds FK in February of this year.

But having made just six appearances for the Allsvenskan side he was given a free transfer - since when he was handed an opportunity to impress at Sheffield United, who are prepared to offer him his first full-time contract in England since leaving West Ham.

Morrison's inability to settle at any club means he has made a total of just 18 first team appearances (11 of which were from the subs bench) in the last four years.

However reports suggest that he has indicated a new-found willingness to impress during his brief spell with the Blades, who are set to offer Morrison a permanent contract.
