West Ham women clear the decks

It has been a busy Summer for Matt Beard and his West Ham United team, as no fewer than seven players have left the club.

Claire Rafferty and Lucienne Reichardt have each decided to call time on their careers after one season with the club. Left Back Rafferty leaves having made 22 appearances in all competitions during the 2018/19 season, having signed from Chelsea last Summer.

Midfielder Reichardt signed from Ajax last summer and went on to make 20 appearances throughout the campaign; West Ham's first as a professional club.

Former captain Rosie Kmita has left the club after her contract expired, Kmita was West Ham's first professional female footballer having spent two years with the club, following them from the Women's Premier League Southern Division into the Women's Super League.

She joins Midfielder Brianna Visalli and Goalkeeper Becky Spencer in leaving the club at the end of their contracts. Visalli who played in all of West Ham's competitive fixtures last season, assisting the equaliser in the FA Cup Semi-Final win over Reading has joined Birmingham City with Spencer moving to Women's Super League newcomers Tottenham Hotspur.

Spencer is not the only West Ham player to move across London to Tottenham, with defender Ria Percival joining her at The Hive Stadium. Percival who represented New Zealand during this years Women's World Cup has left for an undisclosed fee after making 25 appearances in the claret and blue last season.

Finally Scotland forward Jane Ross has joined Women's Super League debutants Manchester United, returning to Manchester having joined West Ham from Manchester City last season. Ross leaves after being the clubs top goal scorer last season, having scored 11 goals in all competitions.
