Manager Manuel Pellegrini may have continuously refused to mention a top six finish during his many interviews this season - but Manuel Lanzini insists that it is a legitimate target.

West Ham's number 10, who recently signing a new contract with the Hammers said today that the entire squad were aiming to break into the Premier League's elite despite the manager's reticence to publicly set a target for the season.

When asked by whufc.com if he felt breaking into the perceived elite was a real possibility, Lanzini replied: "Of course, it is the ambition of all of us - but we must work hard because every team wants this and the Premier League is hard.

"We need believe in ourselves and we can achieve this. We need to work hard because the ambition is to go to the Europa League and we need to concentrate on this.

"It’s difficult, but why not? Leicester won the Premier League two or three years ago. It’s difficult, but we need to believe."

The Argentinian, who is currently away on international duty with Lionel Scaloni's squad also praised manager Pellegrini for installing the kind of belief in the squad necessary to make their ambitions a reality.

"The manager is very good," he added. "I talk with him every day and he’s a very good person and a very good coach. You can talk with him if you have some problems.

"This is good and for me, Manuel is very important. He likes players who play football and like to attack. For me, it’s OK!"
