West Ham United's Lukasz Fabianski was in good form once again as he helped Poland to a goalless draw against Marko Arnautovic's Austria in Warsaw.

The Austrians racked up a not-inconsiderable 22 shots at goal but failed to beat the reigning KUMB Player of the Year, who helped maintain his country's lead at the top of the Euro 2020 qualifying Group C with the point.

Arnautovic, who left West Ham for the Chinese Super League at the end of last season went closest to breaking the deadlock just ten minutes into the game, but could only hit the post with a header.

Poland, who lost their 100 per cent record in the Group on Friday remain two points clear of second-place Slovenia, who moved above Austria courtesy of their 3-2 win against Israel.

All of which means Arnautovic and the Austrians - who have taken ten points from their opening six matches, one fewer than the Slovenians - now face an uphill battle to qualify for next summer's Euros.

Elsewhere Robert Snodgrass endured a miserable night as part of the Scottish side that were thumped 4-0 by Belgium at Hampden Park.

The free-scoring Belgians were 3-0 up within 32 minutes courtesy of goals from Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Vermaelen and Toby Alderweireld. Kevin De Bruyne completed the rout with eight minutes of normal time left to play.

The defeat means Scotland - now nine points behind second-placed Russia in Group I and 12 adrift of leaders Belgium - have no realistic chance of qualifying for next summer's Finals, even though they could still mathematically qualify by winning all four of their remaining Group matches.
