Mark Noble has revealed that the entire squad were thoroughly delighted by Andriy Yarmolenko's first goal for West Ham since returning from injury.

The club captain - who has himself started the new season in fine form despite having been forced to sit out the opening two Premier League fixtures - paid tribute to the Ukrainian forward, who netted the second goal against Norwich in United's most recent outing.

"I think everyone was really pleased for him, Noble told the club's website. "We’ve all seen what he’s been through in the last ten months.

"He started off really well for the Club and got a couple of goals, but then he got that injury.

"No matter what, even if you’re injured for two weeks, you don’t feel a part of it as you’re not out there training with the lads, and he has suffered.

"He’s had a whole summer to think about it and pre-season was hard for him to get up to speed, but I thought he looked really good.

"For him to get his goal, the whole team was really pleased and buzzing that he managed to do that."

Yarmolenko, speaking earlier this week revealed that he was grateful for the support of his team mates during his rehabilitation.

"I had full support from all my team mates," he said in reference to his lengthy spell on the sidelines which prevented him from playing a part in West Ham's 2018/19 campaign.

"Mark Noble came to the hospital after my operation and every day the guys asked how I was, if there was anything I needed and if they could help me. Throughout the entire period I felt supported."

Yarmolenko made just 13 appearances in his first season as a Hammer and none post-October, after he suffered a freak ankle injury during a Premier League encounter with Tottenham in Stratford.
