The Congo were behind after just 22 minutes as Wilfried Kanon opened the scoring, before Arsenal's £72 million winger Nicolas Pepe doubled the Ivory Coast's advantage on the stroke of half time.

Chadrac Akolo's 64th minute effort gave Masuaku's side hope of grabbing something from the game, whilst was played at the Stade de la Licorne.

But Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha - who was involved in a spitting storm at West Ham last weekend - put the result beyond doubt when he added a third for the Ivory Coast deep into added-on time.

You may see highlights of the game (with no commentary) below.

* Also on international duty at the weekend were Robert Snodgrass (Scotland v San Marino) and Fabian Balbuena (Slovakia v Paraguay).

Unfortunately for Snodgrass, who has only recently returned to the international fold, he was unable to feature in Scotland's 6-0 win against the European minnows due to a calf injury sustained during training last week.

Meanwhile 'The General' was left similarly frustrated as he failed to leave the bench, as his side eked out a 1-1 draw at at Narodny Futbalovy Stadion thanks to a late equaliser from Alejandro Romero.
